HRIC – TRW (Teaching, Research and Wellness) building

Project Description:
The TRW (Teaching, Research and Wellness) building serves as a clinical/office building and is part of the Health Research Innovation Centre (HRIC) project for the University of Calgary.

Completed in December 2005, the TRW is eight storeys comprising 295,000 square feet in all, complete with 3 levels of underground parking and one level of Mechanical/Electrical penthouse. It is connected to the Lab building with plus 15s on two levels. Its utility and emergency services are fed from the Lab building’s sub-station.

The TRW has a special remote-controlled window shade control system for the west side of the building. It is all controlled through a central computer and daylight sensors on the roof.

The data cabling structure incorporates a fibre and copper backbone for communications with giga-speed technology.
