Senior Manager, Supply Chain Management


We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Supply Chain Manager.  The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Management is responsible for overseeing the Company’s supply chain and procurement systems and processes as well as asset management for the organization.  The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Management reports directly to the Vice President, Finance and Information Services.  This role will be based in Edmonton, AB.




The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Management will be responsible for duties assigned by the supervisor, including:


  • Direct efforts to centralize supply chain management efficiencies, maintain product quality standards, and reduce costs.
    • Create a standardization of polices, processes and procedures, transaction methods with suppliers, supplier selection processes/ongoing supplier management, data collection, negotiation, performance improvement, cost reduction and communication strategies.
    • Manage and support oversight for purchases, across multiple expense categories and create strategic vision for the company as well as driving purchasing synergies to achieve cost savings.
    • Develop and maintain systematic, analytical and results-based methods for monitoring supplier’s performance and communicate these results to the suppliers and end users.  Provide timely and actionable information for corrective actions to be taken where necessary to both the supplier and end users.
  • Lead negotiation efforts on purchase agreements and vendor contracts with a bias for achievement of quality, delivery, cost containment and process improvement.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Conduct technical and process analysis to identify areas for process improvement, assess overall company spend and provide strategic recommendations for cost savings.
  • Working with the Finance department, conduct financial analysis and collaborate on best practices to maximize cost savings and process improvement.
  • Provide oversight to ensure that contractual obligations and risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence and commitment to the Company’s procurement and purchasing systems and processes to bring about alignment with company requirements to maximize efficiencies.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the materials management and purchasing function companywide to achieve inventory and cost savings goals as well as the development of processes to drive service level improvement.
  • Develop asset/equipment needs assessment, operational and disposal plans in conjunction with parent Company while managing the Company’s fleet and assets.
  • Collaborate with the parent Company to manage and implement all centralized procurement requirements.
  • Providing leadership and positive motivation for project staff and company partners by acting as a responsible and goal-oriented team player and leading by example in achieving excellence and being accountable for results and outcomes


Canem is looking for an individual experienced in a supply chain, purchasing or asset management role with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to efficiently prioritize competing tasks. Proficiency in related computer programs is a requirement.

Our preferred Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A minimum of 15 years experience in Procurement or equivalent experience in industry
  • SCMP and / or PMP designation is considered an asset
  • Advanced understanding of business processes and objectives related to SCM
  • Approaches work in a collaborative manner, taking into account dependencies of components being worked on by other members
  • Ability to travel throughout North America
  • Excellent industry knowledge of materials, tools and equipment
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to learn quickly, be flexible and adaptable
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing tasks
  • Excellent knowledge of and proficiency in required computer programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills, specifically the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Able to work independently and in team
