Project Description: The arena construction project came in under budget and on time. Officially opening in February 2004, the Bear Mountain Arena is a bowl design arena with 2,300 seats encircling the ice and giving a feeling of a ‘mini GM Place’ (home of the Vancouver Canucks). The interior colors are appealing, with ample seating and foot room. The dressing rooms are spacious, well equipped and plentiful.
The arena contains a state-of-the-art digital sound system. The score clock, which was purchased from the demolished Victoria Memorial Arena, brings a history of 50 years of hockey, skating and lacrosse in Victoria. Amenities include a ticket office/shop, ten private boxes, press box, sound room, concessions, referee change/office, a First Aid room and offices.
The facility is the home of the Victoria Salsa Junior Hockey Club, as well as being open for tradeshows, community events and concerts.
